Targeted support for complex situations

Historically, Citizens Advice Hillingdon operated a generalist open-door service. Changes in local commissioning, rising complexity of need and the emergence of new local provision have required a different approach

We now focus on specialist, evidence-led projects that support people facing multiple and overlapping vulnerabilities, where one-off advice is not enough to resolve harm or prevent escalation.

Our specialist work is shaped by patterns identified through data, frontline casework and lived experience. We prioritise depth, advocacy and sustained support for people at greatest risk, ensuring our limited resources are focused where they can achieve the most meaningful and lasting impact

Our projects are connected through a shared Continuum of Care and Change, enabling internal referrals and coordinated support across services. This means people can access the right help as their needs change, without having to repeatedly explain their circumstances, reducing stress, delays and the risk of falling through gaps. Learning from this work also generates evidence to inform wider systems change.
