Why this project exists
Our evidence shows rising employment insecurity, particularly for people with:
long-term health conditions,
disabilities,
caring responsibilities and
those navigating low-paid or insecure work.
Employment problems are often closely linked to financial hardship, stress and deteriorating wellbeing.
Access to employment legal aid is extremely limited and many local law centres are experiencing funding pressures. As a result, vulnerable workers are frequently left without timely legal advice when issues escalate. This project exists to address that gap.
How we help
We provide free, confidential employment law advice and specialist casework to residents of Hillingdon and surrounding boroughs, supporting people who are unable to access legal aid or afford private legal support.
Our support includes:
Advice is delivered through a hybrid model, combining:
phone,
email and
online support
with community-based access, helping reduce barriers linked to health, work patterns and confidence.
Who this is for
This service prioritises residents facing complex employment issues that cannot be resolved through self-help or information alone, particularly where employment problems are contributing to wider instability or risk of crisis.
Our Employment Rights Advice Project Explained: Listen to the Akash Radio Audio
Citizens Advice Hillingdon joined Akash Radio to talk about employment rights and the support available to residents facing problems at work. In the interview, our Project Lead Noreen discusses the Employment Rights Advice Project with Akash Radio, clearly explaining what workplace rights mean for you and how the project helps.
We support residents facing issues such as discrimination, unfair treatment, dismissal, and problems related to health and employment. Broadcast in both English and Punjabi, the interview helped us reach more of our diverse community with clear, practical advice on where to turn for help.
