Employment problems can have an impact far beyond the workplace, affecting income, health and everyday life. Through our Employing Hillingdon project, we’re helping local people understand their rights at work and access practical advice when problems arise. We were pleased to recently welcome our National Lottery Community Fund grant officer to hear more about the project, the issues people are facing and how our employment advice connects with our wider services.
Employment issues can affect so many areas of our lives.
We were delighted to welcome our National Lottery Community Fund grant officer for a mid-year visit to our Employing Hillingdon project.
From unpaid wages and disability discrimination to sickness, reasonable adjustments and the challenges facing migrant workers, we’re helping local people understand their rights and responsibilities at work.
Our support is connected too. Someone receiving help through our Macmillan Cancer Welfare Benefits Project may also need employment advice during treatment, while someone accessing a foodbank may be struggling because of problems with their pay.
Through community drop-ins, partnerships and trusted local channels, we’re helping people find the right support when they need it.
In July, we joined Akash Radio to talk about our work and the employment issues affecting local people. If you missed the interview- click here
We’re grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting this work and helping us make employment advice more accessible across Hillingdon.
