A quick look back at our first Connected Communities session
On Tuesday 28th of April, we launched our brand‑new Connected Communities project at Harefield Library, Village Hall. The event focused on Financial Resilience and offered residents friendly, practical support to help them feel more confident about managing their money. Every resident who joined us received dedicated, personalised guidance from our advisers and partners.
What happened on the day?
Our highly trained advisers were on hand throughout the session, providing free, confidential support tailored to each person’s situation. Residents were able to access:
Benefit checks and income maximisation.
Energy advice and energy‑saving tips.
Budgeting support and cost‑of‑living guidance.
Advice on financial hardship and benefits.
Signposting to local services and community support.
We were joined by colleagues from Jobcentre Plus, Belina Grow, and Brunel Legal Centre, who helped create a relaxed, welcoming environment where residents felt comfortable asking questions and exploring their options.
Why this event matters?
This launch marks the start of a regular programme of Connected Communities events, each designed to bring advice and support closer to where people live. Upcoming themes include:
Legal & Financial Empowerment Day,
Digital Inclusion & Employment, and
a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Day.
Alongside our own sessions, we’ll also be taking part in other local community events. This gives residents even more opportunities to speak with us in person about the issues they face day‑to‑day — from money worries and legal questions to housing, employment, and wellbeing. At each event, we’ll explain what support is available through our projects and signpost to trusted local services when specialist help is needed.
By hosting sessions in familiar community spaces and being present at wider local events, we aim to reduce barriers, strengthen connections, and ensure everyone across Hillingdon can access friendly, reliable advice close to home.
🗓️ Next Connected Communities Event: Early June (Date and venue TBC soon)
Following our first session — and with so many changes taking effect since the start of the new financial year — we’ve seen a growing demand for clear, reliable legal and financial advice. This upcoming event themed Legal & Financial Empowerment Day will help residents navigate these changes with confidence.
On this day we will offer a safe, friendly space for residents to ask questions, understand their rights and get practical guidance tailored to their needs.
We look forward to welcoming you and continuing to build stronger, more connected communities across Hillingdon.
