Our latest community advice session at Hayes Muslim Centre showed the difference that accessible, face-to-face advice can make. Working in a trusted community setting, our advisors and volunteers were able to provide vital support to local people facing a wide range of challenges.
CAH x REAP – Our Final Connected Communities Event
Our final event with REAP brought residents, advisers, volunteers and community organisations together for a busy day of advice, information and learning.
90 advice issues
24+ attendees at our Employment Rights session
We reached a diverse community, including refugees, recognised refugees, people with settled status and residents from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.
Our sessions provided practical information on benefits and employment rights, helping people navigate unfamiliar systems, understand their rights and know where to turn for support. The Employment Rights session covered areas including workplace rights, contracts, pay, leave and where to get help if treated unfairly.
What People Told Us
“It was good information, some info I didn't know before. It helped for the future.”
“If I find a job, I understand how to find a job and my rights.”
This is what Connected Communities has been about – bringing trusted advice into the heart of our communities, reaching people whose voices can sometimes go unheard and helping residents understand their rights and access support.
