Our volunteers continue to find the work that they do with us both rewarding and challenging. To meet the demand on our service and the ever increasing complexity of enquiries, HECA needs many more volunteers we need to allocate resources to train volunteers and paid staff be able to reach the high standards of advice that we deliver.

As a result of the training and work experience our volunteers receive many obtain paid work with a variety of organisations. This illustrates both the quality of our volunteers and the emphasis that we place on their training and personal development.

* For some volunteers who are unsure if they want to commit themselves to the adviser training programme, form filling can be a stepping stone to adviser training. For others, it is a rewarding role in itself and tangible results can be seen which improves the situation of the client.

We actively seek volunteers to reflect the local community and have successfully recruited people from different ethnic backgrounds.

We are also continuing to recruit volunteers to assist clients in filling in forms. The recruitment and training of form fillers provides a valuable service to the public.
