Self-Directed Support

The way that adult social care works is changing. “Self-directed support” is being introduced from August 2010 onwards with the aim of giving people greater control and flexibility over how their community care needs are met.

The Launch Event for Self-Directed Support in Hillingdon will be talking place on Wednesday 12th May 2010 between 11.30am and 3.00pm in the Middlesex Suite of the Civic Centre, Uxbridge.

HECA will have an information stall at the event along with other voluntary organisations. If you are interested in finding out more about what the changes may mean you will find a ‘mythbuster’ and answers to commonly asked questions on www.in-control.org.uk

As the changes are introduced, our advisers will have access to up-to-date information and be able to give assistance with any problems encountered. We will be keen to hear of your experiences so that we can provide evidence on what is and isn’t working well in the transitional period and help the Council make a success of this important development in adult social care.

We have included some useful links in the right hand section of this web page. You can also find information on ‘What is self-directed support?’ on www.hillingdon.gov.uk.
